Following the Traces of Leon Wyczółkowski20.01.2012
On the occasion of celebrations of the Year of Leon Wyczółkowski, the Regional Museum organized a poster exhibition and multimedia presentation entitled “Following the Traces of Leon Wyczółkowski.” They showcase the artistic journey of the artist across the sites, in which he stayed and worked, where he had shaped his individual style.
The central motif of the poster exhibition is timeline, which guides the visitor, showing the most interesting works of the artist from individual periods of his activity. In addition to biographic information, it contains descriptions of graphic techniques as well as quotations and anecdotes of the painter. It also features illustrations of paintings, drawings, graphic artworks and photographs of the artist, which are part of the Regional Museum collections. During the multimedia presentation, which lasts about ten minutes, we can see a map with highlighted cities that become a pretext to show and introduce the spectator to the artistic work of Leon Wyczółkowski, dominated by landscapes, still lifes, architectural motifs, trees, and flowers.
The exhibition was presented for the first time during the concert on the occasion of the return of Bydgoszcz to the Motherland, on January 20th at the Opera Nova. The exhibition will be open in this venue until January 26.
It is an educational-cultural project. Its goal is popularization of information about the artist. Therefore, it will be possible to loan it free of charge and present within the celebrations of the Year of Leon Wyczółkowski.
We are also pleased to inform that President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski took over the honorary patronage over the celebrations of the Year.
